Hip-Hop|Club Banger Reviews (29) [May 2012 Edition]

I can't believe it's already May. The weather is finally heating up where I'm at and summer is just around the corner. I haven't updated for a couple of months now which I feel really bad about. I was without a good working computer for awhile. My laptop which I usually update on had some major issues with it. I had to just finally get rid of it. Electronics is a love/hate relationship with me.

There has been quite a bit of music that have been hittin' the scene since my absence though. So that gives me something to update about. So I hope to give you guys/gals something to dance to.

I have been putting mixes together for all of you on the right side of my page. If you click on the top or bottom links of the mixes it will bring you to 8tracks.com. It is a great website to make your own unique mix and share it with everyone else for free. I'm also using Spotify to create some of my playlists as well. If you have an account with them too, then let me know and I can share my playlists with you.

Let's get on to what y'all been really craving for. Club music that will give you a real "eargasm".

Tydolla$ign feat. Joe Moses - All Star ~ 96 bpm*
Release Date: May 2011

Club/Party - 4.5/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 4/5

This club banger is off the hook. They use the Swedish House Mafia track and fuse it with Tydolla$ign's flows. Great mix. This track will definitely get people dancin' and it will start off the night right. This is a gift to the DJ's out there.

Problem feat. Tydolla$ign - Double Dip ~ 95 bpm*
Release Date: Aug. 2011

Club/Party - 4/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3.5/5

Now this is what you call a slow banger. The right amount of swag and the beat is just right. Problem and Ty$ both do their thing on the track. Great by itself or as a remix. Put this one on your playlist.

Bei Maejor feat. Waka Flocka Flame - Lights Down Low ~ 155 bpm*
Release Date: March 2012

icon icon

Club/Party - 4/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3.5/5

I would have given it a .5 higher if it wasn't for Waka Flocka Flame. His flows don't match the track that he's on. If it was just Bei Maejor, then it would have been better. Not taking anything from this track though. It's still really good and it definitely needs to be on your playlist. Good stuff.

Billy Wes - Shake That Jelly ~ 80 bpm*
Release Date: March 2012

Club/Party - 3/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 2.5/5

The track that I linked to you doesn't have Tyga in it. With or without him the song is mediocre. I've heard both versions and Tyga doesn't really add anything. I think Billy Wes could have done a lot better than this. But it is what it is. I would suggest a remix of this or a mash up.

Play-N-Skillz feat. Pitbull - Richest Man ~ 128 bpm*
Release Date: March 2012

icon icon

Club/Party - 4/5
The Ladies - 2.5/5
Lastability - 3/5

This song is what I call High Energy R&B (HNRG R&B). Very catchy and just a fun song in general. Pitbull is in almost every dance song so it's not surprising anymore. It's more surprising if he's not in it. Great pre-summer hit and it's only getting hotter.

Dev feat. Enrique Iglesias - Naked ~ 125 bpm
Release Date: March 2012

icon icon

Club/Party - 4/5
The Ladies - 5/5
Lastability - 3/5

What a great duo for this song. Dev an up and coming artist who has a few dance hits already. And an veteran artist whose made multiple dance hits in his career. This song oozes sexiness and it deserves to be on your playlist. Smooth vocals from both of them and a great sloooow banger.

The Cataracs feat. Waka Flocka Flame & Kaskade - All You ~ 128 bpm*
Release Date: March 2012

icon icon

Club/Party - 4/5
The Ladies - 2/5
Lastability - 4/5

This is definitely a fusion of trance, dance, and hip-hop. It's definitely an odd mix if you think about it. But it actually works. Thanks to The Cataracs and their skills at mixing songs and you got a hit on your hands. Kaskade and The Cataracs is such a great fusion together. Again the only complaint I have is of Waka Flocka Flame. He just doesn't mix in some songs and this is one of them. He seems really out of place in this one. Definite download if you can handle WFF.

Calvin Harris feat. Ne-Yo - Let's Go ~ 129 bpm
Release Date: April 2012

icon icon

Club/Party - 3.5/5
The Ladies - 4/5
Lastability - 3.5/5

Decent mix from Calvin Harris. Earlier it was Rihanna and now it is Ne-Yo's turn. Not as good as "We Found Love", but it holds its own. Nothing too much to say about this song. Download if you like Calvin Harris or Ne-Yo.

Flo Rida - Whistle - 107 bpm
Release Date: April 2012

icon icon

Club/Party - 3/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3/5

This is a pretty catchy song from Flo Rida. It's a bit different than his usual stuff. It's not really a club banger, but I can definitely see this as a remix or a mash up. Leave it to Flo Rida to come up with something that everyone will listen to again. Great pre-summer song.

Blast from the Past

Mike Jones feat. Hurricane Chris - Drop & Gimme 50 ~ 90 bpm*

This is just a nice club banger from Mike Jones. This is when he was semi-popular. Hurricane Chris is featuring in this one. And he does what he has to do to make this poppin'.

Ester Dean feat. Chris Brown - Drop It Low ~ 88 bpm*

This one will definitely get you on the dance floor. Great track to dance to or to do some choreography. Ester Dean and Chris Brown really has fun with this one. You'll definitely drop it low once you hear this.

Yeeeeeeaah. Yeeeeeah. V.I.C. makes that sound have swag to it. This one has a jazzy flavor to it and it works. Great to wobble to. Definite must on your playlist.

Album Review

4/5

Even though I gave this album a 4/5 I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. The album has some good tracks on here, but I expected a little bit more from Tyga. I would have rather had quality than quantity of tracks. Overall he has 23 tracks on his album. Actually more like 20 tracks and 3 interludes. If he just focused on maybe 15 tracks I would have been all for it. Right now "Faded" and "Rack City" are the most played tracks on the radio. He has other good tracks like "Far Away" and my favorite "Love Game". Those two tracks show more of his talents. Overall I still recommend this album to any hip-hop fans.

Chiddy Bang - Breakfast (Album)*
Release Date: Feb. 21, 2012

Album Review

4/5

I've always liked Chiddy Bang. The first time I heard their style of hip-hop I added them on my "artists to watch" list right away. They definitely have a unique style and that is what's special about them. They fuse a few genres together and make their tracks just plain fun to listen to. There are a few tracks that I thought could have stronger production, but otherwise you won't be disappointed in the download.

Album Review

4/5

One word to describe this album, "refreshing". I can't really pin it, but something about his music is relaxing, fun, and just a treat to listen to. This is a really laid back album and it's great to just sit back, grab a drink, and relax to the soothing of this music. Definite download.

Odd Future - The OF Tape, Vol. 2 (Album)*
Release Date: Mar. 16, 2012

Album Review

3.5/5

I'm not a huge Odd Future fan as other people are. But I give respect to where respect is due. This is album isn't too bad, but I think the album could have been better. You can tell that if Tyler, The Creator was not in this crew, then this would be a below average album at best. I think the other standouts in this crew are Frank Ocean and Syd. I know they are trying to go for a different style and do whatever they want kind of attitude. But sometimes it's just all over the place and a bit too much. That also includes the production. It needs to be cleaned up a bit. The tracks I do recommend though are pretty good and shows the potential of what they can do.

Album Review

4.5/5

A whopping 60 tracks if you buy the full album. That is insane especially at his age. His album still has great bay area production beats and crazy flows. There is tracks for everyone here. Club bangers, hyphy, cruisin', motivational, and west coast hip-hop tracks. Recommended for hours and hours of  hip-hop music.

Album Review

3/5

I have to say that this is so far the most disappointing anticipated album of the year. I had high hopes for this album. I think she should have done two separate albums. One with just hip-hop tracks and one with just pop/dance tracks. Having both doesn't fit. None of her tracks are very strong, because of it. It's a decent album and I hope she figures out who she is for the next album.

Album Review

4.5/5

This album only contains five tracks. But four out of those five tracks are off the hook. Big K.R.I.T. really shows off his talents in this album. If your a true hip-hop/rap fan, then this is highly recommended. I can't wait to hear more from him.

Recommended for Hip-Hop/Rap fans.

Album Review

5/5

Amazing. Even though I knew his album was going to be great, I wasn't anticipating that this was going to blow my socks off. Almost every track on this album have been well produced and he's an amazing lyricist. Very inspirational album and he shows that he can work with any artist. Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, T.I., Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Trey Songz, and even Morgan Freeman?!?! Yes, you heard that right. The actor Morgan Freeman. He doesn't sing or anything. He just talks in his awesome voice. Good enough for me. Highly recommended. Best album so far this year.
