Hip-Hop|Club Banger Reviews (26) [November 2011 Edition]

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. It's been a crazy month for November. As you can see I have revamped the blog a bit. I've updated the blog with a list of every song I've reviewed so far by artist. So it's much easier to find out new songs from your favorite artists. I am also working on two brand new review blogs. You can see these two blogs on my blog lists in the right hand section. Music Guide for R&B|Soul Jams and Music Guide for Trance|Techno|Dubstep| + More. Now since it's only me and it takes a lot of work to update all of these blogs it will take some time. So for now it's really just a preview of what's to come.

I want to thank everyone who has read my blog and have subscribed to it. It's been over two years and it's still going. I would also like to ask if you do enjoy any of my blogs and you have some spare change. Please don't hesitate to donate. Anything will help. Again I just want to say thanks to everyone.

This is a huge update for the music scene as well. There were so many releases this month and my ears are still ringing from listening to all this music. So after your done getting your faced stuffed with all the great food this week. Pop in some new tunes and dance all that fat away. Enjoy!

Busta Rhymes feat. Chris Brown - Why Stop Now ~ 150bpm*
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon

Club/Party - 4/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3/5

This track is actually offered for free in the brand new Google Music. Which is basically like an iTunes from Apple. The link takes you to the website. They are trying to compete with all the other music powerhouses. And for being free it is pretty good. If you like Look At Me Now, then your gonna like this one. It's more of the same. Chris Brown with the hook and Busta Rhymes spittin' crazy fast. So you'll hear this at the clubs for sure. I would love to hear a mash up for both those songs.

Chiddy Bang - Ray Charles  ~ 95 bpm*
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 3.5/5
The Ladies - 2/5
Lastability - 3.5/5

I always appreciate what Chiddy Bang has to offer. Most of their songs have great production and they do things a bit differently than others. This one is no different. I really like this one. Has an old school feel, but yet feels brand new. This track is more for a laid back lounge feel. Recommended download.

Chris Brown feat. Kevin K-MAC McCall - Strip  ~ 95 bpm*
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 4.5/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 4/5

Chris Brown has come out with hit after hit. This is a great slow banger. Kevin McCall adds a good balance to this track as well. You definitely need this on your playlist to have people cool off or even warm up to.

Recommended for casual playlists.

FreeSol feat. Justin Timberlake & Timbaland - Fascinated  ~ 120 bpm*
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 4/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3.5/5

One of my favorite duos. JT & Timbaland. Actually anyone with Timbaland is my favorite duo. Love the beat and FreeSol is pretty good in this one. But JT & Timbaland does steal the limelight from him which I don't think he minds. Recommended download.

Recommended for casual playlists.

Hot Rod feat. 50 Cent - Hot Girl (Remix)  ~ 126 bpm*
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 4/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3/5

This is a laid back slow banger. The beat is good and 50 Cent matches perfectly with this type of track. Hot Rod also has smooth vocals to go with this track. Recommended download.

Recommended for casual playlists.

J. Pinder - Go Far (Jupiter Mix)  ~ 90 bpm*
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 2.5/5
The Ladies - 3/5
Lastability - 3.5/5

This isn't a club banger. It's a really great track though. It's more of a motivational track and J. Pinder has really good lyrics in this one. So if you need more of a pick me up type of track. This is the one.

LL Cool J feat. Ne-Yo - No More ~ 90 bpm*
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 3/5
The Ladies - 2/5
Lastability - 4/5

LL Cool J is back? Oh yeah. And he's great as ever. This track with Ne-Yo is a perfect balance. This isn't really a club banger per say. But I'm pretty sure someone can mix this one in. It's just that good. Recommended for sure.

Lloyd Banks - Make It Stack ~ 156 bpm*
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 2/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3.5/5

I really like this track. This is one of the few tracks I really like from Lloyd Banks. It has a laid back beat and it is more of a lounge type of track. Lloyd Banks is really just spittin' what he's feeling and about the lifestyle of what most mainstream rappers have.

Ne-Yo feat. Trey Songz & T-Pain - The Way You Move ~ 134 bpm*
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 3.5/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3.5/5

The slow bangers just keep on comin'. And here's another one from Ne-Yo. The trio including Trey Songz and T-Pain makes this track extra sexy. Have this track in your playlist for sure.

Jackie Chain feat. Bun B & Big K.R.I.T. - Parked Outside ~ 152 bpm*
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 2.5/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3.5/5

This track is more like a cruiser or just kickin' back at the house. This is the first time I've heard of Jackie Chain, but I am pretty familiar with Bun B and Big K.R.I.T. So to have a track with both of them is in the right step to get noticed. It's a pretty good track. Recommended.

Plies feat. Jeremih & Ludacris - Just (The Tip) ~ 88 bpm*
Release Date: Oct. 2011

icon icon icon

Club/Party - 3.5/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3/5

Sloooow Banger. Yeah they keep on comin'. Sometimes his (Plies) voice can get real annoying. But thankfully Jeremih and Ludacris both balance this track out. Jeremih has the smooth vocals and Ludacris does what he does. It would be great as a mix or mash up. Oh and this song is real dirty.

Recommended for some playlists.

Robin Thicke feat. Lil Wayne - Pretty Lil' Heart ~ 140 bpm
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 2.5/5
The Ladies - 2.5/5
Lastability - 3/5

Yes, another slow banger. Robin Thicke has really smooth vocals which is a shame to have Lil Wayne on this track. I would recommend it more if he wasn't. Other than that I really like it and it is very laid back.

Recommended for specific playlists.

Sean Paul - She Doesn't Mind ~ 120 bpm
Release Date: Oct. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 4/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3/5

I really don't like Sean Paul that much. But this track I actually can stand. It's actually really good and pretty catchy. It's really nice and I definitely recommend it.

Recommended for casual playlists.

Shanell feat. Lil Wayne & Drake - So Good ~ 158 bpm*
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 3/5
The Ladies - 2.5/5
Lastability - 3/5

I don't understand what's the fascination to include Lil Wayne in your song. Drake I might understand, because he's done R&B type songs before. But Lil Wayne really ruins some of these good songs. Especially this one. I like Shanell's song. She has a pleasing voice and production of the song is good. If you can stand Lil Wayne, then download this track.

Recommended for specific playlists.

Trey Songz - Top of the World ~ 129 bpm*
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 2.5/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 4/5

Trey Songz is one of my favorites. And this song is really really good. It's very slow laid back song. But I think you will enjoy this one. He pours his heart out on this one. Highly Recommended.

Trey Songz feat. Fabolous - What I Be On ~ 147 bpm
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 4/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3/5

This one isn't as good as his Top of the World song. But this is more of a club banger. Him and Fabolous have featured in different songs already so this one is more of the same. Still pretty good and will get the club bumpin'. Recommended.

Recommended for casual playlists.

will.i.am feat. Mick Jagger & Jennifer Lopez - T.H.E (The Hardest Ever) ~ 106 bpm*
Release Date: Nov. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 4/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3/5

You can always expect crazy beats from The Black Eyed Peas group. So featuring a solo with just will.i.am with artists like Mick Jagger & Jennifer Lopez is great. This track does have a crazy beat and if you enjoyed his previous songs, then download this. I enjoyed it and hopefully there is more.

Recommended for casual playlists.

Childish Gambino - Camp (Album)*

Album Review

4.5/5

Amazing. If I had to sum this album up in word one that's what I would use. Each song sounds distinctly different which I really like. Childish Gambino really pours his heart out in this tracks and it shows. He tells a story in each track and it's a treat to listen to every one of them. My two favorite tracks are Bonfire and Hold You Down. Both of them have great production and great flows. Definite download. You will not be disappointed.

Drake - Take Care (Album)*
Release Date: Nov. 15, 2011

Album Review

4/5

I enjoyed this album. But not as much as I thought I would. This is more like his R&B album and to all you haters album. He has plenty of tracks, but only a couple of them stood out to me. The other tracks are still really well produced, but just doesn't give it enough oomph. If your just hanging out or need some lounge type of music or background noise. This album is great for that. He's really only getting started and I still recommend this to everyone.

Album Review

4/5

I really like Erk tha Jerk's style. I think I like his previous album Nerd's Eye View a teeny bit better though. But not by much. This albums is still pretty solid. There are some pretty good tracks here. This is a very laid back album and I would recommend playing this when you just wanna chill.

Gym Class Heroes - The Papercut Chronicles II (Album)*

Album Review

4/5

I've always enjoyed Gym Class Heroes and what they put out. And this album is quite enjoyable. They have always been more as a poppy rock hip-hop group. But I enjoy the 'fusion' a lot. I've always liked the blending of different genres together. If you have heard from them in the past, then your going to enjoy what they are offering here. And if your a newcomer your in for a real treat. Recommended.

Album Review

4.5/5

Mac Miller. Welcome to the big stage. You have finally come into the limelight. This is a highly recommended album. Great beats, great flows. Mac Miller has really grown as an artist from the underground mixtapes. Lots of his tracks speak to how he's grown and what he has experienced. There are only a couple of hit and miss tracks. But overall you will not regret getting this album.

Album Review

5/5

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this album. Every song she pours her heart out. Even all of the artists featured on this strike a perfect balance with each song. Yes, even the song with Lil Wayne in it is really good. I'm glad that she's back and I'm going to be listening to this album for awhile. My favorite track is Feel Inside. I really hope Nas can come out with a new album. There is something here for everyone.

Mobb Deep - Black Cocaine (Album)*
Release Date: Nov. 21, 2011

icon icon
Album Review

2.5/5

This is actually a mini album. There are only five tracks on this. So every song is a recommended track by default. I've been following Mobb Deep for a long time. So this album is a little disappointing. The only tracks that I kind of like are Dead Man Shoes and Get It Forever (and that's because of Nas). Check it out for yourself and see what you think.

Album Review

2/5

Wow. If you thought Mobb Deep's album was short... There is only two songs here. To Plies credit it's a mixtape. But where are all the other tracks? Both of these tracks aren't that great. Lowa is a club banger, but annoying. And Blow My High is alright. Check it out I guess. Download at your discretion.

Pusha T - Fear of God II - Let Us Pray (Album)*

Album Review

4/5

I admit I'm actually surprised on how much I like this album. I wasn't expecting too much, but its really good. The first three tracks alone make this album good. I like most of the featured artists on here and Pusha T keeps himself honest in his flows. Check out Alone in Vegas and you know what I mean. Recommended.

Rihanna - Talk That Talk (Album)*
Release Date: Nov. 21, 2011

icon icon
Album Review

3.5/5

I'm really torn on this. The first half of her album is good. But the second half of her album is not so great. It's repetitive and uninspiring. I really like Rihanna too and I think she can do so much better. I think she should take a break for a little bit and come up with better songs. So yes, I recommend half of her album. Check it out and see what you think.

I'm also surprised at how good this album is as well. It's a very laid back and chillin' album. I imagine someone just crusin' with this album on. Short Dawg has some nice flows and the production value of this album is very good. Recommended.

Album Review

4.5/5

This album is very strange. Pun intended. But in a oh so good way. Most of the tracks has this Halloween creepy type of feel. But who does not like Tech N9ne. He has some crazy flows and can rap over any type of beat. This is not just an album with Tech N9ne though. It's a collabos with a whole bunch of different artists including Krizz Kaliko, Kutt Calhoun, Jay Rock and others. If you love crazy beats and crazy flows this ones for you.

What an enjoyable album. There's a lot of love making music here. Tyrese has been gone for awhile, but now he's back and his album got swag. If you need music to heat up the bedroom. Don't look no further than this. There are a couple of tracks that are just okay. But overall the album is on point. Recommended.

Wale's sophomore album. Does he continue to impress? That's a definite yes. Wale has some really good flows and some great lyrics in his tracks. A lot of tracks are diverse and have great productions. I knew he was going to be a great new artist. I can't wait to hear more from him. Highly recommended.

Webbie - Savage Life 3 (Album)*

Album Review

3/5

This is what I basically expected from Webbie. Some good tracks, but overall mostly repetitive bland tracks. Some of them sound the same and it can get irritating after awhile. I only recommend this album if you really like Webbie and what he has to offer. Otherwise just download the individual tracks for this.

Album Review

4.5/5

There are so many good albums this month. And to end the last review with a bang. A highly recommended album. Yelawolf has some crazy flows and he definitely has lyrical talent. The mix of rock and rap is a blessing in disguise. Just what Limp Bizkit did earlier in his career, Yelawolf does it now and better. If you really want to hear what Yelawolf has gone through listen to Growin' Up In the Gutter and The Last Song. Both very touching and heartfelt.
